 Owned and managed by Judy and Kimberly Graves, Willoughby Stables has been in business for over 15 years providing superior care for equine athletes. 

Judy Graves

   

 

    Judy Graves is the owner and manager of Willoughby Stables. Judy has been running Willoughby since the first day we opened. The horses care and comfort are her number one priority. Judy takes the time that is necessary to evaluate each horse and develop an individualized plan. She stays in consistant contact with our team of professionals from vets, farriers, and shippers, to hay and shavings delivery to keep the farm running smoothly.

    Judy is also dedicated in keeping the grounds looking pristine throughout the seasons and prides herself on maintaining luscious green pastures year round. Judy handled all of the duties such as organizing, shipping, packing, educating the students and parents, that it takes to achieve successful horse shows before Kimberly took over the training duties.

   Judy is the ultimate horse show mom and loves attenind the horse shows as much as possible. Judy has been on several different buying trips to Europe, and is well educated in the needs of recent imports. She has a special eye for finding a talented hunter. 

Kimberly Graves

    Kimberly Graves is the head trainer at Willoughby Stables. Kimberly graduated with a degree in Equine Business Management from St. Andrews University. While at SAU Kimberly was very active on both the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Hunt Seat team and the American National Riding Commission (ANRC) team. Kimberly was IHSA Zone 4 Region 3 Cacchione Cup Champion 2013 and Reserve Champion 2012 respectively. She won her Regional and Zone Open Championship and qualified and competed at IHSA Nationals her Senior year.

    Competing and riding in college gave Kimberly the opportunity to learn to ride several different types of horses and participate with many top clinicians such as R. Scot Evans and Bernie Traurig. 

    Before competing in college Kimberly showed many horses in the Hunter's and Jumper's from Children's to the Amateur Owner divisions in the southeast. Bringing home many championships with her personal horse Hand It Over and other Willoughby Stables owned horses. Such accomplishments as, multiple USEF Horse of the Year awards, Amateur Owner World Champion Hunter Rider, Zone 3 Finals Champion, Grand Champion at Biltmore Estate Summer Classic and Tryon Summer classic, among many other notable awards. 

    After graduation Kimberly worked for several different professionals in the hunter jumper industry. Most notably, Jason Berry, of Staunton, Virginia who Kimberly now works closely with and considers Jason to be her mentor in helping her persue her professional riding career. Kimberly is now working on acquiring her USHJA Trainer Certification, along with taking on new students and starting to compete in the higher level jumper classes with her Grand Prix horse Varios.
